About Us: The American Kurdish Network is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to raising awareness of the universal struggles for freedom. We focus on supporting pro-Kurdish policies on Capitol Hill, engaging with policymakers, and educating the public on Kurdish affairs.

Position Overview: We are seeking a motivated Research Assistant to support our lobbying efforts by identifying and analyzing pro-Kurdish politicians, tracking legislative developments, and coordinating meetings. The ideal candidate has strong research and writing skills, a keen interest in international relations and U.S. foreign policy, and the ability to craft policy-focused content for our website and outreach efforts.

Key Responsibilities:
-
Conduct in-depth research on U.S. policymakers with pro-Kurdish leanings and track relevant legislative efforts.
-Assist in coordinating outreach to members of Congress, congressional staff, and policy organizations.
-Draft and publish policy analyses, either as a final research paper or multiple shorter articles for AKN’s digital distribution channels.
-Monitor and report to the Executive Team on U.S. foreign policy developments regarding Kurdistan and the broader Middle East.

Qualifications: Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Political Science, International Relations, Public Policy, or a related field.Strong research and analytical skills with experience in political or policy research.Excellent writing and communication skills, with the ability to synthesize complex topics into clear, engaging content.Familiarity with U.S. foreign policy, Kurdish affairs, and Middle Eastern geopolitics is highly preferred. Self-motivated and able to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
