Visits American University
Would you expect an individual who has been exiled,
imprisoned, and threatened to continue fighting faithfully for his cause? The
director and founder of the American Kurdish Information Network (AKIN), Kani
Xulam, has been working with members of the Congress and fellow Kurds to help
his people. the Kennedy Political Union (KPU) will host Kani Xulam Wednesday,
December 9th at 8:15 PM in Ward 2.
Xulam has dedicated his life to restoring human rights to
his people. He will share the challenges facing the Kurdish people with the
American University community. In 1993, Kani Xulam established AKIN to raise
awareness on the challenges facing the Kurds.
KPU is a non-partisan, student operated and funded lecture
bureau of American University. Named to honor the Kennedy family for their
contribution to the political life, KPU strives to replace ignorance with
insight by presenting an ideologically diverse array of speakers. KPU's most
recent speaker was His Holiness the Dalai Lama last month.
